About "ADAP"

American Dental Alliance Plans, Inc. (ADAP) is located in Overland Park, KS and provides a self-administered (by the participating dental office), pre-paid discount dental service plan, for businesses and individuals. Our goals are:

Mission Statement: To help dentists enhance the doctor/patient relationship by allowing their patients to receive dental coverage without 3rd party intervention.

Philosophy: Help patients to have access to dental coverage with experienced dentists in offices that emphasize service. At the same time allowing dentists to receive fair compensation for their services that they provide.

ADAP is an Alliance of dentists formed to provide high quality dental care and service with the greatest regard for the patient in mind. The main benefit to a patient is that there is no 3rd party administrator involved in the treatment decisions between the doctor and patient. ADAP dental coverage plans were designed by dentists, with the patient in mind. The dental staff administers the plans and all treatment diagnoses are discussed between the patient and the doctor, right in the office, and costs are determined prior to beginning treatment. This means that there are:

  • No Claims forms - No paperwork by the office or the patient.
  • No Pre-determination Clauses - Treatment that has been postponed can now be done.
  • No Deductibles - There are no hidden costs.
  • No Waiting Periods - Benefits are available immediately. There are no limits to specialty dentistry.
  • Flexibility in Coverage- ADAP provides a specific level of coverage and dentists are free to provide additional services to member-patients and encouraged to promote their specialty such as cosmetic dentistry.

This provides the highest dental serviceability available and since there is no plan administrator for treatment decisions, the savings can be passed onto the consumer.

ADAP was formed in 2002 to help dentists offer their own "in-house" dental plan so that they have more control in providing the services needed by their patients. This "in-house" Private Dental Plans (PDP) allows the dentist to concentrate his/her efforts on dental service. The amount of time and costs saved from not using a 3rd party administrator helps the patient get treatment faster and at a much lower cost than traditional insurance plans.

ADAP Dental Plans utilizes this same concept of plan administration. However, the ADAP plan provides portability for the member patient. A member can see any general dentists or specialists he/she desires and can change at anytime they want to. Because dentists designed the plans, members receive the coverage they need and use and not what an insurance company wants them to have. The dentist, office staff, and patient develop good, long-lasting relationships. ADAP is different than any capitated plan on the market because the dentist is more involved in the setup and administration of the Plan and has a personal stake in the success of the Plan.

ADAP's marketing concept is to work with professional benefits brokerage firms and companies, who want to provide dental coverage to their employees and individuals and know that they are getting quality dental service at a good value. ADAP offers dental coverage on a "voluntary" basis as well as group coverage.

The voluntary market is underserved and ADAP's flexibility allows us to offer "same value" coverage in this market segment.
